About me:

My name is Francisco Rico, I graduated from California State Polytechnic, Pomona with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a minor in Political Science. I received my Social Science teaching credential from California State Polytechnic, Pomona and cleared my credential through San Diego State University. I have been working in the education field for over 11 years, during which time I have worked as an after school program instructor, long term substitute, a middle school Social Science teacher, and a high school Social Science independent studies teacher. My life revolves around education, technology and most of all my family.

Reflection on program:

Prior to enrolling in this program, my goals for the program were to learn to better incorporate technology into my class, develop web applications, and gather online resources for my students. As I have worked through the program what I have learned most is how to be flexible in order to best work with peers, instructors, and my students. I was always opposed to the “sage on the stage” mentality, but feared that I was often promoting it in my classes by lecturing often. By learning about various technologies and how to better design lessons, I am moving closer to a constructivist approach.
